How This Started
In 2019, I was running a design studio in Amsterdam, averaging twelve-hour days, and wondering why I felt disconnected from work I once loved.
Everyone had advice. Meditation apps. Better boundaries. Morning routines. I tried most of them. They worked for a few days, then faded into the background noise of productivity hacks that never quite stick.
Simplicity as practice, not performance
The Accidental Discovery
A client from Taiwan sent a care package after a particularly stressful project. Inside was a small clay teapot, some oolong, and handwritten instructions that basically said: stop rushing this part.
I didn't think much of it. Made the tea. Got distracted by email. Came back to find it had gone cold. Tried again the next day, this time actually paying attention to the steps. The third day, something shifted.
It wasn't the tea itself. It was the five minutes where I couldn't multitask because my hands were busy with water temperature and timing. Five minutes where my mind could wander without my phone as a safety net.
What We Learned
Over the next year, I dove into the research. Not the mystical claims, but the actual neuroscience of rituals, the chemistry of tea compounds, and why certain practices persist across cultures.
Turns out, ritual behavior activates specific neural pathways that help regulate stress response. When we repeat meaningful actions with attention, we're essentially creating mental bookmarks that signal state changes to our nervous system.
Tea was just the vehicle. The real mechanism was the structured pause combined with sensory engagement and the inability to rush the process.
"I started sharing what I was learning with friends who were similarly burned out. They reported the same thing: not instant transformation, but a gradual return to feeling present in their own lives."

Our Approach
We're not traditional tea merchants. We don't romanticize ancient ceremonies or claim our products are life-changing magic.
What we do is source specific varieties that work well for intentional pauses, then build frameworks that make the practice sustainable for people with actual schedules and responsibilities.
How We Source
Every blend comes from small growers who prioritize quality over scale. We work directly with farms in China, Japan, and Taiwan that have been cultivating specific varieties for generations.
We test extensively for purity and taste, but also for how the tea functions in daily practice. Does it require complicated preparation? Does the flavor hold up across multiple steeps? Can it fit into a real morning or afternoon without becoming precious?
The Framework
Each experience includes more than just tea. You get a practical guide built from behavioral research on habit formation and ritual design.
No vague instructions about mindfulness. Specific steps, timing frameworks, and troubleshooting for the most common obstacles people face when trying to build new practices.
What We Stand For
Honesty Over Hype
We won't claim our tea cures anything or guarantees specific results. What we can say is that regular, intentional pauses combined with quality tea may support better focus and stress management for many people.
Practice Over Perfection
You don't need special equipment or hours of free time. Our frameworks are built for consistency, not Instagram-worthy moments.
Evidence-Informed Tradition
We respect traditional knowledge while staying grounded in current research. If something works, we want to understand why, not just repeat that it's always been done this way.
